(2007) judge Mounir Suleiman calls a halt to the investigation of two men arrested under article 534, he disputed that homosexuality was “against the laws of nature” and said that homosexuality being seen as “unnatural” reflected the social mores of the time. (this weakened the law against homosexuality)
(2011) judge Batroun ruled against the use of article 534 against homosexuals.
(April 2013) mayor of Dekwaneh orders security forces to raid and shut down a gay nightclub. several people at the party were arrested and forced to undress in municipal headquarters and were photographed naked. lebanon’s interior minister of the intern i’m government showed support to what the mayor of Dekwaneh did and continued to say, “ Lebanon is opposed to homosexuality, and according to Lebanese law it is a criminal offense.”.
(July 11, 2013) the lebanese psychiatric society (LPS) releases a statement declaring homosexuality is not a mental disorder and does not need to be treated, they said “ Homosexuality in itself does not cause any defect in judgment, stability, reliability or social and professional abilities,”, "The assumption that homosexuality is a result of disturbances in the family dynamic or unbalanced psychological development is based on wrong information". LPS has also said the “conversion therapy” has no scientific background and has asked health professionals to “rely only on science” when giving an opinion and treatment on this matter. this has also made lebanon the first arab country to declassify homosexuality as a ”disease”.
(January 28, 2014) a court in the municipality of Jdeideh ruled out a case accusing a transgender woman of having “unnatural” sexual relationships with a man. this made the ‘anti-gay law’ weaken.
